It's said that the flat corner of South Yorkshire where Hatfield is situated is an area to be hurried through en-route to more scenic places. York, Lincoln, Derbyshire, the Yorkshire Moors and Dales are popular destinations. However, for those interested in pastimes on or by the water, Hatfield Water Park is an oasis that deserves a longer stay.
Like so many recreational watersports centres, the Water Park is based on old sand and gravel workings, but no evidence of that industry remains to spoil the scenery.
A mixture of mature trees and shrubbery now forms a picturesque landscape, abundant with a wide variety of wildlife.
The Caravan & Camping site is grassed, naturally level, and served by well-lit, hard-surfaced roads. Electricity supply points are available. A large enclosed toddlers and children's playground is situated close by, at the north end of the site.
The amenities Building is well-equipped and centrally heated. A security access system restricts the use of the facility to Campsite users only. There is 24h CCTV, and a resident warden on-site.
The Water Park Lake is used for canoeing, dinghy sailing, windsurfing, sub-aqua, and coarse fishing. Structured RYA and BCU Courses are run at the Water Park for both adults and juniors. Introductory two-hour Taster Courses in all watersports are available on request.
Coaching is given by highly-qualified staff. A strong emphasis is put on water safety, and all charges are inclusive of buoyancy aids, and rescue cover.
So whether you want to walk, jog, picnic, barbecue, learn a new watersports skill, or just enjoy the atmosphere, look no further - you've already discovered the place to be!
